Théo Aiolfi awarded Marie Skłodowska-Curie EUTOPIA Science and Innovation Fellowship (SIF)

We are delighted to share the news that Théo Aiolfi, one of our Early Career Teaching Fellows, has been awarded a two-year postdoctoral position as an EUTOPIA Science and Innovation Fellow (SIF) at CY Cergy Paris University starting in September, with an internal secondment at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in the second year of the project. As part of European Union’s Horizon 2020 research programme, the Science and Innovation Fellowship is one of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Cofund initiatives aimed at enhancing the research potential and career perspectives of outstanding young researchers from around the world. Building on the research network of the EUTOPIA alliance of universities, the SIF provides promising young scholars with the means to develop a collaborative project supported by two universities of the alliance. Located at the intersection of politics and performance studies, Théo’s research project is entitled “Performers of the Climate Crisis: Eco-populism and Political Representation in the Anthropocene”. It seeks to examine the specificities in the political communication of new forms of green activism and politics, analysing them through the frame of populism as an innovative mode of articulation of the global ecological crisis. Through a comparative case study of five Western countries, this project aims to chart the rhetorical and performative repertoire of contemporary political ecology.
