Provision of Training
You will receive hands-on training in structural biology, protein production and molecular biology. Training will be from both senior lab members and myself. You will also have opportunities to attend seminars and conferences to cement learning.
Progression Monitoring and Management
I discuss progress regularly with students, both informally, as we see one another, and at monthly meetings.
Communication
I love to hear about your results, good or bad. I would like to think that I am always available, and I can sometimes even be found in the lab.
PhD Students can expect scheduled meetings with me:
In a group meeting
At least once per month
In year 1 of PhD study
At least once per month
In year 2 of PhD study
At least once per month
In year 3 of PhD study
At least once per month
The meetings will be face to face and I am usually contactable for an instant response (if required) on every working day.
Working Pattern
Work in my lab is very flexible, though I prefer students to work within core hours if they can. I prefer students to avoid weekend working and encourage a healthy work-life balance.
Notice Period for Feedback
I need at least 1 week's notice to provide feedback on written work of up to 5000 words.
