Mark Eastwood
Mark Eastwood is a Research Fellow at the Tissue Image Analytics (TIA) center currently working as part of the Cancer Research UK funded PRISM project. He received his BA/MSc in Natural Sciences (focused on Mathematical Physics) from Cambridge University before developing an interest in machine learning which led him to complete a PhD titled 'Building well-performing classifier ensembles : model and decision level combination' at Bournemouth University. He spent time working in research positions at both Bournemouth (including secondments to Evonik in Germany) and Coventry Universities where his interests included machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision. As part of the PRISM project, Mark will be working on applying machine learning to the discovery of pre-neoplastic signatures in Mesothelioma, to further the project's goal of enabling early detection of this deadly disease.
