Emma Gilroy

I am a first year PhD student studying in Alison Rodgers group.

The overall aim for my PhD is to use linear dichroism in medical applications and I look forward to working with those at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge to achieve this aim.

I have started the year by focusing my attention on using linear dichroism to explore the properties of DNA with especial interest on the factors that can affect the orientation of DNA.

The factors studied have been ligand binding and environmental factors.

Since starting this PhD I have realised that I have a slight fasination with pretty spectra, below is my favourite linear dichroism spectra. Praise will be awarded to anyone who can guess what it is of.
