Businessman plans to burn 'body parts' to create energy
In a recent article, the Telegraph reports on how Michael Burns, a businessman from the UK is proposing to ‘burn body parts and organs' to create energy.
"With at least 1.6 billion people—one-fourth of the world’s population—currently live without electricity the need to develop renewable energy remains a challenge of our global society today. Meeting the needs of these billions of people who still lack access to basic, modern energy services while simultaneously participating in a global transition to clean, low-carbon energy systems isn’t easy." Dr Volkan Degirmenci - Programmes Director
While we might not endorse the suggestion of Michael Burns, we do encourage creative ideas around the generation of renewable energy. In our Renewable Energy module, a core component of all our programmes you will get to explore the ethical issues surrounding the implementation of different technologies through critical in-class discussions. Through collaboration with your peers and the module tutor, Dr Volkan Degirmenci, you will consider economic, environmental and the societal impact and challenges facing the development and utilization of renewable energy.
“It is a controversial topic, but gasification is a conventional process which the businessman is proposing” Dr Volkan Degirmenci - Programmes Director
