Hao Liu was born in Hubei, China in 1988. He graduated with a first honor BEng degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from University of Birmingham in 2010. In the final year of his BEng degree, he undertook a project entitled 'development of smart grid system', which involved the mathematical modelling of electricity market operation, integration of renewable energy and power flow control in MATLAB. His current research is about algorithm development fo smart energy saving devices, household appliance recognition and identidication.
