Heaklig is currently a candidate to the Degree of Doctor of Engineering in Wide-Bandgap Power Electronics. As such, he is part of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Mobility Technologies, and also associated with the Wide-Bandgap Stream of the CDT. His work is actively being supervised by Professor Phil MawbyLink opens in a new window and Dr Jose Ortiz-GonzalezLink opens in a new window, both being widely renowned experts in Power Electronics.
His research concerns advanced packaging of wide-bandgap power devices for enhanced integration, improved converter efficiency and reliability.

Extremely proud to be from the Dominican Republic π΄ βyet very pleased and happy to be based in the United Kingdom.
Heaklig obtained his BEng (Hons) at the Pontificia Universidad CatΓ³lica Madre y Maestra - PUCMMLink opens in a new window (2018), and his MSc in Electrical Power (Distinction) from Newcastle UniversityLink opens in a new window (2019). The latter studies were sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and TechnologyLink opens in a new window of his home country, recognising him as a very talented professional and future leader, with huge potential in the fields of applied research.
He natively speaks Spanish, while very competent in English, not to mention survival Italian skills.
