Warwick SIAM-IMA Student Chapter
About Us
Welcome to the Warwick Student Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) Link opens in a new windowand the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA)Link opens in a new window.
This Student Chapter is run by a committee of PhD students all of whom are involved with applied mathematical research here at Warwick. We bring together undergraduate and postgraduate students (as well as staff!) from a variety of academic disciplines and from different departments.
What We Do
We aim to promote and encourage applied mathematical and computational research here at Warwick. This facilitates the growth of the interdisciplinary research community here at Warwick and provides a platform for both students and staff to showcase the real-world and industrial applications of their research to a diverse audience. We run regular seminar series during term and organise other events, such as workshops, conferences, Reprohack (with industrial partners), and academic/ industry career events.
Applied Mathematics Postgraduate (AMP) Conference 2025
AMP conference this year will be held on the 30th June to 2nd July 2025 at the University of Oxford. This event will start with a one-day workshop focusing on training essential software skills followed by a two-day research conference in the broad area of applied mathematics, open to PhD and postgraduate students. Find out more and register your interest at the conference websiteLink opens in a new window.
SPAAM Seminar Series
We host the weekly Statistics, Probability, Analysis and Applied Mathematics (SPAAM)Link opens in a new window seminar series throughout the academic terms, which showcases applied mathematics research currently undertaken here by Warwick PhD students. Check out our YouTube channelLink opens in a new window for some of the talks featured in this seminar series.
Past Events
Applied Mathematics Postgraduate (AMP) Conference 2024Link opens in a new window
We hosted the AMP Conference on the 8-10th July 2024, in collaboration with the Oxford SIAM Student Chapter. This event featured a workshop on communicating science and conference involving contributed talks by students and invited plenary speakers.
