Request to be a Peer Tutor

Would you like to be a Peer Tutor for first year Analysis I this term?

Reasons not to be a Peer Tutor:

  • The pay is rather poor (about £170 for the term).
  • The hours may clash with your own lectures.

Reasons to be a Peer Tutor:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of the mathematics.
  • Useful work experience (for example, for your CV).
  • The joy of passing on your own understanding of the subject.

What does peer-tutoring Analysis I mean?

Each Analysis class has two 2-hour sessions (Monday 10-12, plus one of: Thursday 1-3, Thursday 3-5 and Friday 1-3). You will be assigned one Analysis class to support the class teacher. For instance, the class teacher might ask you to talk to individual students to help them comprehend the workbooks. You are expected to attend one hour from each 2-hour session, making 2 hours a week and 18 hours in total. We need your commitment to last the whole term.
Those with a first class performance (End of Year %) in the previous year will be prioritised, as will those who are available to do a Friday slot.

Important note: You need to bring your passport with you when you sign the contract in order to be employed by the University.
