Conferences
The following is a list of conferences which I have attended throughout my time at the MOAC Doctoral Training Centre. The MOAC DTC is in close collaboration with other interdisciplinary doctoral training centres throughout the UK, particularly the Chemical Biology Centre (CBC) at Imperial College, London, and we organise a number of opportunities to meet up with our fellow interdisciplinary researchers.
First ever MOAC annual conference, held in Cardigan Bay, South Wales.
Second MOAC annual conference, held in Snowdon, North Wales. Poster DTC meetup with Imperial College's Chemical Biology Center, held at Imperial College in London. Students from the two DTCs were invited to prepare a poster and a presentation for the event: PosterPresentation Systems biology and genomics conference, organised by the Consortium for Post-Genomic Science. Delegates were invited to prepare posters for the event: Poster Third MOAC annual conference, held in Penbrokeshire, South Wales. 5th annual conference for users of Affymetrix microarray technologies, held at the John Innes Centre in Norwich. Delegates were invited to prepare a poster for the event, and prizes were awarded for "best scientific content" and for "best looking poster". This year, my poster was awarded the prize for "best scientific content": Poster The first EPSRC sponsored annual meeting for members of interdisciplinary doctoral training centres throughout the UK. Hosted by the Life Science Interface (LSI) Doctoral Training Centre, and held at St. Anne's College, Oxford.

UKAffy 6, June 2007, Dublin
6th annual conference for users of Affymetrix microarray technologies, held at the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research at the University College Dublin. I presented my work at this conference, concentrating specifically on data quality control and analysis using linear models. The presentation can be downloaded below:
Presentation
The 17th EASD Islet Study Group Symposium, taking place at the Hotel Bedford in Brussels on September 21-23, 2007, as a satellite symposium to the 43rd EASD Annual Meeting in Amsterdam on September 17-21, 2007. The meeting will cover 5 main topics:
1) Islet protein expression and degradation
2) Secretory granule biogenesis and exocytosis
3) Islet pathophysiology in diabetes
4) beta-cell growth and survival
5) beta-cell development/regeneration.

I presented my work, analysing the effects of Exendin 4 (Exenatide) on the apoptotic pancreas phenotype after c-MycERTAM activation.
I have been invited to present my work, particularly discussing treatment of small volumes of RNA in microarray studies and real time PCR.
