Summary of the group exercise
Group work is a very important part of this module. Students will have the opportunity to learn for themselves with more choice as to the pace and direction of learning. In addition, students will learn through communicating with the group. Through developing effective team working the students will also build upon a valuable transferable skill.
Group Exercise - Posters describing original research publications
In this exercise, groups will be asked to take a 'problem-based learning' approach to understanding an original research paper in this area. Initially time will be spent selecting a paper from the selection available. Students will be encouraged to design strategies for filling in the gaps in their knowledge so as to understand the paper sufficiently to make a poster explaining the underlying science, methodology and significance of the work.
