The Warwick Analytical Science Centre (WASC) is hosting its first one-day meeting for research technical professionals (RTProf), on the theme of ‘Opportunities and Landscape of Funding for Research Technical Professionals’. This will help our RTProf community understand more about the grant process and writing, funds that are available, university finances and national funding strategy. Delegates will come away with the tools and knowledge needed to apply for their own funding and to understand how their facilities can be included onto grants.
Tailored specifically for technical rather than academic staff, the day will feature talks, panel discussions and professional skills sessions from EPSRC/UKRI and TALENT.

First WASC Seedcorn Publication
We are pleased to report the first publication resulting from our seedcorn access scheme. Ioannis Papagiannis, a student at Coventry University, was recently awarded two days access to our X-Ray Diffraction facility:
“The WASC seedcorn funding allowed us to access the X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) equipment, which was not available at our institution. This allowed us to determine the crystallographic structure of iron oxide nanoparticles for its characterisation, which was then presented at and accepted for publication in the proceedings of the ICNNN 2021:
Papagiannis, M.S. Innocente, & E.I. Gkanas (2021). Synthesis and Characterisation of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles with Tunable Sizes by Hydrothermal Method. In Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Nanostructures, Nanomaterials and Nanoengineering 2021 (ICNNN 2021), Fukuoka, Japan (hybrid), 2021"
Congratulations to Ioannis on his publication!
