IAPER Guest Speaker Series

Inspiring Women in STEM

Guest Speaker Series

As part of the Improving Access and Participation in Engineering Research (IAPER) ProjectLink opens in a new window , we are hosting a series of guest speaker seminars showcasing successful women in STEM from underrepresented backgrounds. Take a look back at our recent events in the series:

First seminar,
Monday 15 May 2023

We welcomed Payal Jain as our first speaker in the seminar series. Payal shared insights with our students into her career in several executive roles in banking and finance. Payal was recognised in the HERoes Top 100 Women Executives in the UK, and provided our students with some great career advice.

Second seminar,
Thursday 25 May 2023

For our second seminar, we welcomed guest speakers Bingqian Gao, the Senior Director of Advanced Analytics at Aktana; and Simran Mohnani, a Chemical Engineer leading Circularity and Sustainable Supply Chain Ventures at Deloitte Ventures. Both speakers have received several National awards and recognitions for their work.

Third seminar,
Friday 23 June 2023

In celebration of International Women in Engineering Day, we welcomed Professor Winifred Ijomah and Zahraa Kadri for our third seminar in the series. Their words resonated with our staff and students, inspiring them to put themselves forward for opportunities, seek mentorship, and actively improve their own abilities.
