WMG Summer Internships
Overview
WMG offers Warwick undergraduates the chance to find out what a career in academic research involves by providing an opportunity to spend the summer working with leading researchers and tutors in this multi-disciplinary academic department of the University of Warwick.
We have conducted world-class applied research and education for 35 years, working with global companies on real-world problems to develop solutions to aid industry and society. We aim to improve competitiveness by applying innovation, new technologies and skills deployment, bringing academic rigour to industrial and organisational practice.
These internship projects are an opportunity towards WMG's goal of significantly growing the number of students studying for an EngD or PhD.

Aims
The WMG Summer Internship Scheme aims to identify and develop researchers of the future.
Regardless of whether a research career at the university is what you finally opt for, the internship will improve your employability skills by developing experience in problem-solving, teamwork, and self-discipline.
Many projects cover various research and teaching disciplines, each requiring various skills and interests.
Bursary details
WMG provides a £2,000 tax-free bursary* in return for eight weeks of research in one of its many research and teaching groups over the Summer vacation period.
You do not have to be a UK national but must have a UK bank account to receive the bursary. To meet the bursary conditions, you must remain in the UK while completing the internship.
Successful applicants are encouraged to negotiate start and finish dates with their supervisor. It is possible to split the internship to allow for summer vacations.
* Accommodation is not provided in addition to the bursary
Who can apply?
You may apply if you are returning to the University of Warwick as a full-time student in the Autumn Term of 2024*.
Students from all faculties are encouraged to apply for an internship.
Projects are split between lab-based, hybrid and remote. Details of where you will be located are contained within each project outline.
* If you are in your final year or a postgraduate, please do not apply, as you will not be eligible for a bursary.
About the projects
Each project page contains information on the project supervisors, the location of the project, and the key aims. The projects are split between research and teaching groups. Due to the nature of some projects, you may be required to possess certain knowledge and skills. This is stated in the outline.
You must submit a CV and personal statement stating the reasons for your interest in the project, how you will contribute to its success and how you match the required skillset. You can apply for multiple projects.
The project supervisor will contact you directly if they would like to interview you for the project.
