About: this online event will formally launch the final project report for the MADE projectLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window. The event will provide an overview of the work undertaken, findings, and recommendations from the project which was conducted in 2023–2024 within the Doctoral Education and Academia Research Centre (DEAR) at the University of Warwick (UoW). The project emerged from consultation with the UoW Doctoral College, which also collaborated in developing and guiding the project. The project focused on reasonable adjustments and mitigating circumstances for doctoral education, in recognition of the fact that these are two interlinked but distinct areas of HE policy and practice which are vital to ensuring equitable and inclusive access to and participation in doctoral education. At the same time, Postgraduate Research (PGR) students can fall through the cracks of institutional policies, processes, and practices that have often been developed with undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate Taught (PGT) students in mind. The project has produced a range of recommendations for change.

Audience: This event will be relevant for colleagues in the sector who work closely with PGR students, including disabled PGRs, and managing mitigating circumstances in relation to doctoral assessment.
