📢 Event - Recognising & enhancing Teaching-focussed colleagues' contributions to research culture

On 9th July, colleagues from across SELCS came together for a DEAR Centre event exploring the vital role that teaching-focused academics play in our research culture.

The event presented findings from the Enhancing Research Culture-funded project 'Recognising & Enhancing Teaching-Focused Colleagues' Contributions to Research CultureLink opens in a new window', led by Dr Gill Frigerio (SELCS Director of Scholarship) and Dr James Burford (SELCS Co-Director of Research Culture and DEAR Centre Deputy Director), with research support from Dr Fatima AlHaj Hasan and Milena Cuccurullo.

Drawing on focus group research conducted with teaching-focused colleagues across the School, the day provided an opportunity to reflect on both the strengths of our School's existing research culture and the challenges that can shape research engagement. Participants explored areas where greater clarity and support are needed and helped identify priorities for future action. The team are planning to use the insights drawn from the project internally to shape future policy and plan initiatives, and also hope to find ways to share relevant findings with the sector.
