Reading Group
Since February 2025, the Doctoral Education and Academia Research Centre has convened a monthly reading group, which usually takes place on the first Thursday of the month. The current co-conveners of the reading group are Alice Nok Hang Hui and James Burford. This reading group is open to all University of Warwick staff and postgraduate researchers who are interested in doctoral education and academia research. Members of the group select texts they are interested in reading (which might range from newly published research and classic texts) in the research fields of doctoral education and the academic profession. One aim of the group is to value and prioritise reading as a vital part of knowledge production. Another goal of the group is to use reading together as an opportunity for members to practice thinking and being in community with each other. Given the DEAR Centre encompasses a wide range of disciplinary perspectives, this group provides an opportunity to build a shared set of material that may facilitate future collaboration. This is a friendly group and new members are more than welcome! Please contact dear@warwick.ac.uk to find out more.
