Education Studies PhD Student Kevin Zhou comes 3rd in the Warwick Sustainability Challenge: Waste
We are delighted that Kevin Zhou and his teammates were awarded the 3rd prize in the 2022 Warwick Sustainability Challenge: Waste, which seeks innovative and creative ways to progress circular economy and waste on campus. The team proposed a project to encourage and reward sustainable choices by students and staff. Kevin explains more:
"Warwick has developed and implemented a number of waste reducing projects over the past few years, but feedback indicates there remains a lack of deep engagement with issues such as waste and recycling. To better engage students and staffs on waste reduction, my team and I propose implementing a points system to encourage people to make more sustainable choices, specifically looking at waste. By making more sustainable choices around campus, students and staff can gain more points which can be redeemed for various rewards around campus."
The team's poster and website can be viewed here (see Team 14).
Kevin's PhD research topic is Revealing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Enactments by School Stakeholders - A Case Study in Two Primary Schools in China.
