Keynote Speaker:
Professor Emma Smith
Following a career as a Chemistry teacher and Head of Special Educational Needs in the South Wales valleys, Emma left teaching and joined academia upon completion of her PhD in 2002. She has held academic posts at Cardiff University as well as at the Universities of York, Birmingham and Leicester and she will join the Centre for Education Studies at the University of Warwick in May 2017. Her research and teaching interests lie in the area of education and social justice and in the role that policy places in reducing educational inequalities. She is a co-editor of the BERA/SAGE Handbook of Education Research Methods, published in 2017 and the second edition of her book Key Issues in Education and Social Justice will be published by SAGE early in 2018.
