Study with us

Education Studies is the interdisciplinary study of the transformative power of education. You’ll engage with thinking from psychology and philosophy to study how and why we learn. Look to sociology and literature to understand the representation of young people in culture and society. Use politics to analyse how education is shaped by, and informs, current affairs. By taking this multi-faceted approach, you'll find new ways to affect the lives of people locally and globally.

Undergraduate

Our BA Education degree explores and analyses education through the disciplines of Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Politics and History. In our flexible, interdisciplinary degree we address key themes such as childhood, creativity, inequalities, and diversity. Our degree can open doors to many careers in education and beyond.

We critically analyse education in a fast-changing globalised world, and our degree will engage you in the contemporary debates about learning and learners. You will think sociologically and philosophically as you grapple with the purpose of education for society and in individuals' lives. We’ll introduce you to psychology in education and how this shapes understandings of children and childhood. You’ll develop your understanding of contemporary educational policy at both global and local levels, while exploring the history and development of educational institutions and systems.

Postgraduate

Our postgraduate programmes offer you an opportunity to specialise in an area of education that will best support your professional needs, and inspire your intellectual curiosity.
