Biography

Ian Abbott is associate professor and director of the Centre for Education Studies at the University of Warwick. Prior to higher education he worked in schools and colleges in senior leadership roles for a number of years.

He has worked in partnership with a number of external organisations including Teach First and Teaching Leaders. He has collaborated with a number of schools and colleges on a range of research and staff development projects. He has significant international experience having worked in many countries including Ethiopia, Tanzania, Brazil, South Africa and China.

His research interests include education policy and reform, school collaboration, the utilisation of the Pupil Premium and initial teacher education. He has published widely on education policy and reform, teacher education and leadership and staff development in schools and colleges.
