Iro completed her PhD at the Department of Sociology at Warwick looking at constructions of race and class in private schooling. Most recently, she has developed a course on resilience for Year 9 students which was piloted across 10 schools in the south of England. She is now working with sixth-form colleges in south and east London to understand how self-efficacy and self-regulation are developed in Year 12. In 2021, she will work with a school in east London on a DfE-funded project to develop a student leadership programme which will be aimed at students from disadvantaged backgrounds measuring its effects on academic attainment over two years. Iro edits the Eton Journal for Research and Innovation in Education, a journal which gives a platform to students, teachers, and those interested in education to reflect on their practice, teaching and learning, and present school-based research. She is currently teaching Degree Apprentices in Pearson College London and researchers how work-integrated learning modules can enhance reflective professional and academic practices amongst undergraduate students.
