2A | Presenter: Hannah Cockburn and Karen Wright, Hearing Team, Integrated Disability Service, Warwickshire County Council Title: Supporting Pupils with a Hearing Loss in KS3 and KS4. Outline: During this training session you will learn about different types of deafness and what this means for students in a Secondary School setting. You will be introduced to the range of audiological equipment used by students and advice and information will be provided on key strategies and resources for different subject areas. Consideration will also be given to access arrangements for pupils with a hearing loss. 2B | Presenter: Kacey de Groot, Assistant Principal Leader of Learning and Drama Teacher, Caludon Castle School Title: Understanding the fundamentals of Trans and Non-Binary identities to allow those students to thrive. Outline: The session will give an explanation, or clarify participants’ understanding, of the fundamental nature of being transgender or non-binary, what the misconceptions are, and how not to be fooled by the current 'moral panic' about gender identity.
There will follow the basic legal frameworks as they apply to places of education and also the principles of best practice to ensure that trans and non-binary students are not only safe, but also have the potential to thrive - educationally and in terms of happiness and well-being.

2C | Presenter: Bridget Thornhill, Senior Teacher for Dyslexia, Cognition and Learning Team at Nottinghamshire County Council Title: Identifying and Supporting Dyslexic Learners in Mainstream Settings. Outline: The objectives of the session are:
To understand the Rose Definition of Dyslexia (2009): a discussion of the most widely recognised definition of dyslexia, as adopted by DfE and British Dyslexia Association.
To be able to identify learners with dyslexic traits in the classroom through early years to secondary school: the difficulties with reading and writing commonly displayed by dyslexic learners as well as their strengths.
To gain strategies to support reading and writing in the classroom: ideas and resources to create dyslexia friendly spaces where all learners can thrive regardless of the barriers associated with dyslexic type difficulties.

2D | Presenter: Jonathan Berliner, PhD Candidate – School of Education, Communication and Society, King’s College London Title: Strategies for Teaching Neurodiverse Classes Outline: With an estimated prevalence of around 10% of the population, neurodiversity will affect all classrooms, but particularly low attaining classes and those with more SEN students. Students in these classes have a wide range of often conflicting needs, presenting many challenges for even the most experienced teachers. This session will break down the differences between these labels, point out some common pitfalls to avoid, and provide strategies for maximising engagement, promoting self-esteem, and raising attainment.
