Students play the part in Parliament for World Book Day
Trainee Teachers from the Centre for Teacher Education braved the weather to take part in World Book Day at the Houses of Parliament on 1 March. An audience of international children enjoyed reading poetry and met with MPs, authors and teachers who helped to bring books to life for them. They then also enjoyed a tour of the Houses of Parliament with a Warwick Alumnus.
CTE was pleased to attend Special APPG for the Teaching Profession in Parliament on 4th December.
A gathering of over 40 education leaders was present to learn about the plans for an apprenticeship route into teaching.
The meeting was chaired by Ian Mearns, MP (Education Select Committee) and attended by MPs and Peers along with various stakeholders from across the sector.
The discussion was open, detailed and frank, culminating in a paper for consideration by government as it prepares this new qualification.
The meeting also included a short presentation and book launch “Flip the System UK” from Lucy Rycroft-Smith and JL Dutaut.
CTE at Warwick provides the Secretariat to this group and partners with the Chair and Secretary in setting the agenda. The next meeting is planned for the end of January.
