I-PEEL: Living Through Climate Change

Welcome to The International Political Economy of Everyday Life (I-PEEL): Living Through Climate Change project!

Project aims:

In this project you will team up with students from Monash University based in Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur, to develop your critical thinking at the cutting edge of creative, collaborative, and global research practice, examining how everyday actors, objects, and practices can prompt an original perspective on the global political economy of climate change.

Project milestones:

There will be seven milestones to complete the project:

  1. Announcement of project teams and academic mentors. On 19 February, you will receive an email from us with the details of your collaboration partners. This will give you the opportunity to get in touch, exchange ideas, and jointly discuss the topics you would like to write about.
  2. First Workshop. On Thursday, 29 February 2024, we will kickstart the project with our first workshop, held on Zoom. At the workshop you will meet the I-PEEL team and the other participants. You will receive practical guidance on the next steps: from selecting your own research topics, to doing collaborative research, to presenting the results of your research, to publishing your groupwork online. You will also be given the opportunity to brainstorm single-word topics with your project partners. Please find the access details and the agenda of the workshop on our event page: hereLink opens in a new window.
  3. Meet & Greet on campus. After the workshop, you will meet up with the other participants from your university and with the I-PEEL team on campus. You will receive an invitation with further information regarding the time and the place of the meet & greet by email.
  4. One-word pitch. After the first workshop and the meet & greet on campus you will get to work. You will discuss the topic of your gorupwork with your project partners. You have one week to prepare a working title and a 200-word description. Please send the working title and 200-word description to: i-peel@warwick.ac.uk. The deadline for submission is 7 March 2024 at 23:59 in the UK, 8 March 2024 at 07:59 in Malaysia, and 8 March 2024 at 10:59 in Melbourne.
  5. First draft submission & check-in with academic mentors. After you have submitted the working title and description you will begin to jointly work on the project. You will submit a first project draft by Monday, 15 April. During that week, you will meet with your academic mentor, who will provide feedback on your project, and offer general guidance and advice. Please send the first project draft to: i-peel@warwick.ac.uk. The deadline for submission is 15 April 2024 at 23:59 in the UK, 16 April 2024 at 07:59 in Malaysia, and 16 April 2024 at 10:59 in Melbourne.
  6. Second Workshop. On 2 May 2024, you will present and discuss the results of your collaborative projects at our second workshop, held on Zoom. You will receive further guidance and advice from the I-PEEL team with regards to submitting the project for online publication. Finally, we will jointly reflect on the lessons learned from the project and the future of I-PEEL research. Please find the access details and the agenda of the workshop on our event page: hereLink opens in a new window.
  7. Submission of your I-PEEL article to the review panel. After the second workshop you will have two weeks for final edits before you submit your groupwork to the review panel. Depending on the outcome of the peer review, you will be asked to do final edits, or be invited to publish. Please send the final groupwork to: i-peel@warwick.ac.uk. The deadline for final submission is 20 May 2024 at 23:59 in the UK, 21 May at 07:59 in Malaysia, and 21 May 2024 at 10:59 in Melbourne.
