Notes for students on reading, 1973

This 1973 departmental memorandum, authored by Professor David Miller, offered Warwick philosophy students practical advice to sharpen their comprehension and writing skills. This memo reflects Warwick Philosophy’s long-standing commitment to clarity of thought and expression, and the eclectic brilliance of one of its most distinguished scholars.

A key figure in the department from 1969 to 2007, Miller was known for his work in logic and the philosophy of science, including collaborations with Karl Popper. Yet his intellectual range extended beyond academia—he also co-authored Croquet and How to Play It in 1966.
