Graduation at Coventry Cathedral

This photograph captures an early Warwick graduation ceremony held at the historic Coventry Cathedral, where Philosophy students once received their degrees. The cathedral hosted the university’s full graduation ceremonies from 1968 until the late 1980s, offering a grand and symbolic setting for academic achievement. In 1995, the ceremonies moved to Butterworth Hall on campus, but the memory of those early convocationsremainsa proud part of Warwick’s heritage. This image reflects not only a rite of passage for students but also the evolving story of the university and its philosophical community.
