Sorcha Gunne

Sorcha Gunne is starting the second year of her PhD in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at the University of Warwick. She holds a BA (first class honours) in English Literature and Anthropology and an MA (first class honours) in English Literature, both from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. In April of 2007 she organised a symposium titled, ‘Women Writing Rape: Literary and Theoretical Narratives of Sexual Violence’. Her current research focuses on narratives of social and sexual violence in postcolonial South African fiction.

April Gallwey

April Gallwey read English as an undergraduate at Royal Holloway, University of London (1997 – 2000) and holds an MSt in Women’s Studies from the University of Oxford (2001 – 2002). She worked as a researcher for an MP at Westminster from 2003 - 2006, focusing specifically on policy relating to gender equality in the UK and also in Africa. This was followed by an MSc in Comparative Social Policy at the University of Oxford (2005 – 2006) before starting a PhD at the University of Warwick in January 2007

Sumana Ray

Sumana Ray is starting the second year PhD student in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick University. She has been educated both in India and in UK and has completed her Masters Degree in English Literature from the University of Calcutta (India) and the University of Birmingham (UK). Her area of interest is Post-colonial Literature and her research project focuses on literary and artistic expressions of Black and Asian women from the Midlands.
