2011-12 Contemporary Issues Seminar Series

2011-12 Contemporary Issues Seminar Series
In the academic year 2011-12, the Centre for the Study of Women and Gender ran a series of three seminars on 'hot topic' contemporary issues. These issues - the Arab Spring, the cuts and sport - are all profoundly gendered, and are characterised by the exclusion or mis-appropriation of women's concerns in ways that exacerbate gender inequalities. At the same time, these issues can be characterised as sites of feminist activism, opening up new possibilities for collective action and social change.

The termly seminars were free and open to all, with refreshments provided and plenty of time for lively discussion. Click on the links below to learn more about the seminars and access video podcasts of the presentations.
