Windows theoretically provides the ability to share a local printer between more than one machine. This is not supported by WBS eSolutions for the following reasons:
- Support costs associated with this have proved very high
- School network printers have print release so you can print to any device
- The technology is not sufficiently stable, being designed for a home environment
- The setup requires the hosting computer to be on and causes a slow down in performance each time a job is printed.
If a printer needs to be shared between a number of users then it should be purchased with the necessary technology included. Staff wishing to purchase a printer should contact Dene Statham (firstname.lastname@example.org) for advice.
