Ken Bates


Ken joined the School of Accounting and Commercial Law at the University of Wellington in New Zealand in February 2008 and teaches both management and financial accounting.

Ken's previous academic experience was with Warwick Business School where he lectured financial and management accounting on undergraduate, postgraduate and executive courses. He was the academic director for the Distance Learning MBA and course organiser and study note author for the Distance Learning MBA Management Accounting module. Ken's past professional work includes audit and investigation experience with two of the (then) UK big 6 accounting firms and experience in industry as Company Secretary and Finance Director within the Caparo Group.

Research interests include: financial analysis; strategic management accounting; performance measurement and cost management systems in both service and manufacturing industries.

Ken is working on a PhD in the area of customer profitability analysis.
