Research

Research is a strategic priority and well supported by Warwick's long-established research reputation and growing culture of interdisciplinarity. Our research covers key aspects of accounting research such as financial and corporate reporting expertise, and capital market-based accounting and we employ a variety of methodologies including historical research, qualitative research and econometric approaches. Recently our researchers published in journals including The Accounting Review; Journal of Accounting and Economics; Contemporary Accounting Research; Accounting, Organizations and Society and European Accounting Review. Explore our researchers' interest areas.

We have a long-standing and successful seminar series, recent presenters include Ana Marques, Laurence van Lent, Yves Gendron, Chris Chapman, Cynthia Hardy, Wim A Van der Stede, Keith Robson, Beatriz Garcia, Dirk Black, Mohan Venkatachalam, Ted Christensen, Anna Gold, Ane Tamayo, Sudipta Basu, Philip Joos, Bjorn Jorgensen, Clive Lennox and Mark Bradshaw.

We welcome researchers with interests in all aspects of accounting and methodology. We not only offer opportunities to work with colleagues in Accounting, but also encourage collaboration with others in WBS such as colleagues in Finance, Behavioural Science and Organisational Behaviour & Industrial Relations.

Our access to research databases (COMPUSTAT, Datastream, Boardex, WRDS, Thomson One Banker, including Investext and IBES) compares favourably with US institutions.

We also contribute to teaching and supervision across the top-ranked WBS undergraduate, postgraduate, Warwick MBA, and Doctoral programmes.

Our faculty have strong connections with all of the major professional bodies (including ICAEW, ACCA and CIMA) and we regularly contribute to the academic communities of these bodies. We also network with regulatory bodies such as the Financial Reporting Council and the Value Reporting Foundation, welcoming their representatives to present to our faculty and students.
We also have good links with the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), with a member of faculty serving on one of BAFA’s executive committees.
