Warwick University will help Bolivia become the “energy cell of the world”
The University of Warwick is set to help Bolivia become a world leader in renewable energies and electric vehicles, thanks to a historic partnership on lithium battery research with the Bolivian Government.
Warwick welcomes the President of Bolivia
The University of Warwick has welcomed former student, His Excellency Luis Alberto Arce Catacora, President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, back to the university’s Coventry campus to talk with students and to learn more about research being undertaken.
Warwick announces its 2017-18 UK-Mexico Visiting Chair
Dr. Tara Schiller from WMG has be awarded Warwick’s 2017-18 UK-Mexico Visiting Chair. Dr. Schiller will be undertaking a visit to the University of Guadalajara and the University of Guanajuato in Spring 2018. The visit will allow Dr. Schiller, who specialises in the synthesis and characterisation of polymer and polymer nanocomposites, to share Warwick expertise with Mexican counterparts, better understand the areas of complementarity between the research groups and plan for next steps for collaboration.
Warwick success in FAPESP Sprint call
Two Warwick academics, Dr. Colm Connaughton and Dr. Manuela Tosin, have been successful in the recent SPRINT 2017 call for proposals to the joint FAPESP-Warwick Fund. SPRINT (São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration) is a strategy designed to encourage and promote the advancement of international research by funding researchers affiliated with institutions in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and their academic partners abroad.
Professor Lorenzo Frigerio represents Warwick on a UK delegation to Colombia
Professor Lorenzo Frigerio (Life Sciences) represented Warwick on a UK delegation to Colombia led by Universities UK International (UUKi) in June. The visit aimed to identify and facilitate opportunities for cooperation in teaching, research, postgraduate training and mobility. Alongside a focus on peace-building and transitional justice, the delegation also explored fast-developing opportunities for cooperation in research across the life sciences, social sciences and the arts and humanities. The Colombian Embassy in London then hosted a follow-up meeting in July (photo above). You can see a short film about the visit produced by the British Council here.
