09 September 2024: Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) Professor Michael Scott unveiled the Monash Warwick Alliance Associates initiative, a key component of the Alliance’s new strategic direction. This exciting new offering underscores the partnership’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and collaborative community dedicated to addressing global challenges, underpinned by new funding opportunities.
Monash Warwick Alliance is proud to launch the ‘Alliance Associates’ initiative
The Associates initiative offers Alliance members a chance to significantly increase their impact, elevate their status as global leaders, and contribute to shaping the future of research and education worldwide. By formally recognising these individuals and their work in making the vision of the Alliance a reality, Monash and Warwick aim to inspire future collaborations and continue to highlight the power of transnational partnership.
Professor Michael Scott, University of Warwick Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) and Alliance Co-lead said:
“The Monash Warwick Alliance has been a beacon of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation for over twelve years, empowering our communities to make significant strides in education, research, and global leadership. Our new strategy and the launch of our Associate members initiative marks the next chapter in our partnership, further strengthening our collective efforts to tackle the world's most pressing challenges and fostering a vibrant, inclusive community that thrives on collaboration to make a lasting impact.”
On the same day a corresponding event was held at Monash University where Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Sharon Pickering and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Europe), Alliance Co-lead, Professor Cecilia Hewlett, welcomed Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of Warwick.
Both events celebrated the significant achievements made by the Alliance since its launch in 2012 and the strong bond between the two universities. The new strategic direction unveiled in July this year deepens the Alliance’s impact on research, education and global engagement, underpinned by new funding mechanisms and enhanced collaboration with the Alliance Associates initiative.
The Associates initiative is a pivotal step in fostering a global network of academic leaders," said Monash University Pro Vice-Chancellor (Europe) and Alliance Co-lead, Professor Cecilia Hewlett. "The new Associate community will amplify our collective impact, elevate our institutions on the world stage, and create ground-breaking opportunities for research and education. This initiative will deepen our strategic partnership with the University of Warwick and open doors to extensive European collaborations.
Since its inception in 2012, the Monash Warwick Alliance has achieved remarkable results, securing over £20.2 Million in external funding for collaborative projects. This funding has enabled the Alliance to tackle pressing global issues, such as developing an AMR Training Programme to combat emerging superbug threats and the successful Action Translate project, which engaged hundreds of student volunteers worldwide to address climate change.
