The Monash Warwick Alliance is committed to supporting our researchers, educators and students at every level of your collaboration. As part of a broader strategic refresh, the Alliance has introduced new funding mechanisms.
The new funding opportunities provide an articulated pipeline through the Research Activation and Education Activation Fund, leading to large-scale Major Research Initiatives and Strategic Education Initiatives that have the ability to deliver significant impact and external funding. The Professional Services Collaboration Fund is a new scheme to support joint initiatives across the professional service areas of Monash and Warwick

Research Funding
The Research Activation Fund
The Activation Fund is designed for you to work with Monash colleagues to kickstart a research idea or boost an existing collaboration. We will support you to combine your complementary expertise to deliver greater impact.
The March 2025 funding round is now OPEN and will close on 2nd May.
Major Research Initiative
The research funding instruments of the Alliance are designed to ensure that the Alliance can continue to provide support for the early development of potentially transformative research projects (through the Research Activation Fund) and provide an articulated pipeline to access funding for these large-scale Major Research Initiatives that have the ability to deliver significant impact and external funding.
The Alliance Joint PhD
Do you need an outstanding PhD student to support your joint research team? We award up to three full scholarships every year to help develop our future generation of internationally experienced young researchers.

Education Funding
The Education Activation Fund
The Education Activation Fund is designed to support Monash and Warwick educators in the early development of potentially scalable and sustainable education projects that will internationalise our teaching and learning further and that involve student co-creation.
The March 2025 funding round is now OPEN and will close on 2nd May.
Strategic Education Fund
The Alliance’s 2024-2027 Strategy supports education collaboration initiatives that are strategic, have transformational potential, are sustainable and innovative, and build on the shared capabilities of both institutions. Strategic Education projects must build on a previously funded Education Activation Fund (or the previous Education Fund) project (i.e., that have tested the concept successfully).
Student Funding
PhD Travel Grant
The PhD Travel Grant is a fantastic opportunity to connect with academics and fellow research students across the globe. The Scheme is open to PhD students at Warwick to visit Monash for up to 10 weeks.
Next deadline for applications: 28 April 2025
Professional Services Funding
The Alliance encourages collaborations between professional services to enhance organisational development and learning. Professional services staff are encouraged to contact the Alliance to discuss support mechanisms for potential collaborative initiatives and projects.
Professional Services Collaboration Fund
Under the Alliance’s 2024-2027 Strategy, the Professional Services Collaboration Fund is a new scheme to support joint initiatives across the professional service areas of Monash and Warwick, building on past exchanges and learning in professional service areas to realise and promote collaboration and organisational learning between our institutions.
