National recognition for CLL student
Peter Shelston, a student at the Centre for Lifelong Learning, has achieved national recognition for his outstanding work on a CPD course based at Warwick. The John Roberts Memorial Prize for Professional Achievement is awarded annually to the best student on the joint Warwick and AGCAS Career Education, Information, and Guidance in Higher Education (CEIGHE) postgraduate qualifications.
Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship awarded to Professor Gary Watt
Professor Gary Watt (Law) has been awarded a prestigious Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship. His interdisciplinary research will look at what the arts and humanities can bring to the study of law and our understanding of ‘courts of popular opinion’ through traditional and social media.
Warwick Alumna awarded MBE
Former postgraduate student Faeeza Vaid was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list for her work advancing women’s rights, particularly supporting vulnerable Muslim women.
Dr Maria do Mar Pereira awarded Feminist and Women’s Studies Association Book Prize
Dr Maria do Mar Pereira (Sociology) has been awarded the prestigious Feminist and Women’s Studies Association Book Prize 2018 for her latest book Power, Knowledge and Feminist Scholarship: an Ethnography of Academia. Find out more about the prize, and the judges’ comments on the book.
British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships
Congratulations to Dr William Barylo from Sociology, and Dr Martha McGill from History, who have been awarded Postdoctoral Fellowships by the British Academy.
