Coventry Conversation - John Waite

Thursday 6th March - 1pm - Ellen Terry Building - Coventry University

An award-winning investigative journalist from the BBC is one of the next guests at a Coventry Conversation. John Waite has one of the best-known voices in Britain and can be heard week after week on 'Face the Facts' and 'You and Yours' both on BBC radio Four. He has presented 'Face the facts' since 1986 and in that time has exposed scores of fraudsters and scammers, righted many wrongs, changed many laws and won three Sony awards in the process. It is a tribute to him and the team that 'Face the Facts' is still going strong after twenty one years.

John is also the cousin of kidnapped British hostage Terry Waite who was held for five years in Beirut from 1987. He acted as the family spokesperson during that terrible ordeal and when Terry was eventually released.

John will come to share the secrets of his thirty years in radio during a Coventry Conversation on Thursday 6 March at 1pm in the Ellen Terry Building.

John Mair, the organiser of the Coventry Conversations says:

"When it comes to investigative journalism, John is a master of the art. We have much to learn from him about this kind of journalism."

The talk takes place on Thursday 6 March at 1pm at Coventry University in room ETG34 of the Ellen Terry Building, Jordan Well. The talk is free and open to all. For further information contact John Mair on 07785 378156 or Alison Bushnell, External Press and Media Relations Officer on 024 7688 8245
