Behind the scenes at the Modern Records Centre (fully booked)

Would you like to see what goes on behind the scenes of one of the largest university archives in the UK? This is a chance to get up close and personal with a selection of interesting archives dating from 1788 to the present day. The Centre is well known for its collections of 19th and 20th century documents on politics, welfare and employment but it also holds some real surprises – come and find out what they are...

Behind the scenes at WMG (fully booked)

An opportunity to get up close and personal with the innovative research undertaken by WMG. Visiting a number of research themes, in WMG buildings, you'll learn more about how academics and researchers have worked with industry partners to design and develop products and services, many of which are now in production. Getting hands on, you'll be able to use and interact with a number of technologies, including 3D and digital, that is used in the research. This session is now full.

Cooking up a treat...or two (fully booked)

Fancy trying your hand at making a proper coffee or a noodle dish from scratch? Come and join the Retail team and experience life behind the counter. We’ll get you kitted out in chef whites and teach you how to make an authentic noodle dish and the skills needed to become a proper barista. You’ll then get to put your skills into practice and serve some real life customers! This session is now full.

Energy trail (fully booked)

Take a guided tour of Warwick’s recently opened Energy Trail – an outdoor walk around campus looking at the buildings and features that are helping Warwick to become a more environmentally friendly place. You’ll have the chance to understand more about the distinctive red roof of the International Digital Laboratory, find out how the University cuts its carbon footprint with an on-site power plant, and hear about the range of environmental research going on here.

Get retro-Active!

Want to improve your wellbeing and fitness? Like having fun but hate exercise? Come along and try out retro-Active, Warwick Sport’s revolutionary new session. Think space hoppers, skip-its, pogo sticks and you’re on the right track. Get active and increase your confidence in a fun casual environment.

Join Executive Chef, Graham Crump and Delivered Food and Drink Manager, Clare Balcarres as they introduce you to the latest trends in food and drink entertaining. Know your strengths (fully booked)

"Success is achieved by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses" (Marylin von Savant). This interactive workshop will enable you to understand your strengths in order to consider how you can make best use of them. People who are using their strengths generally find that they: are happier and more confident; have higher levels of self-esteem, energy and vitality; experience less stress; are more resilient and more likely to achieve their goals; perform better and are more engaged at work; are more effective at developing themselves and growing as individuals. Live graphics taster (fully booked)

Live graphics are not only a powerful way to get and keep an audience's attention, but they are also an effective way to take notes and to think through and organise information. Get a taste of the visual thinking process in this creative workshop. This session is now full.

Navigate the maze of information security

Using games and scenarios, we’ll explore some of the key information security challenges we face in the workplace. The session will be interactive and you’ll go away with the knowledge to identify potential problems and the practical techniques to work with information more safely.

Networking (fully booked)

An introduction to and opportunity to practice the basic skills required for effective networking. We’ll look at: the benefits of networking; creating the right 'first impression'; how to start the conversation; how to network at events; walking into a room of strangers; knowing how to join an existing group of people and how to leave one group to join another. New career support network for Warwick administrators

Come along and meet members of this new support network, created by experienced managers from the Administration who have volunteered to meet colleagues from Administration across the University and offer mentoring. Find out how network mentors are able to offer help and suppot - to colleagues, for example, who haven’t applied for a post for some time, or who are finding a particular application or interview preparation challenging, or who want to learn from an unsuccessful experience.

Pilates

Join our Pilates class, suitable for all abilities. Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement to improve flexibility, strengthen muscles and balance the mechanics of the body by working on posture, in particular, promoting a healthier back and stronger abdominal muscles. It is a complete fitness element in itself. The class is a mixture of standing and floor based work so you’ll need comfortable clothing and water. You can take part either barefoot or with socks on. (Please note: Group fitness pilates is neither remedial, clinical or designed for rehabilitation.)

Public engagement - time to get exercised?

Public engagement is on the lips of many people across the HE sector. What does it mean to you? What does it mean for the University? Is there something we should be doing that we aren’t? Come and find out.

Social enterprise

Got an idea for a business with a social conscience? Warwick is a pioneering partner working with HEFCE and the charity UnLtd to develop and grow social entrepreneurship in HE institutions. From January 2013, budding social entrepreneurs (both staff and students) will be able to apply for funding to help develop ideas. Come along and find out what a social enterprise is. Explore how our new scheme can support different social enterprise ideas. Learn about the application process and support available for successful award winners.

The challenge of leading and managing change

As leaders and managers, we know that change is a constant in our working lives. What is it about leading change that challenges both us and our people? How can we use this understanding to maximise the opportunities of change and engage people effectively? Take the opportunity to consider why we react to change in the way that we do and how we can use that understanding to lead change effectively.
