Warwick Network 2007

Staff Away Day

Registrar Jon BaldwinMessage from Jon Baldwin, University Registrar

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you very much to all of you who were able to attend the Warwick Network Day on Friday 14 September. The feedback we have received so far has been tremendously positive and it was heartening to see so many of you engaged in the day’s activities.

This year’s Warwick Network built on last year’s inaugural event. We took into account comments made by attendees - opening the event up to all staff groups and holding it outside of the main annual leave period – to ensure as many people as possible were able to attend.

The plenary sessions, led by the Vice-Chancellor and I, allowed for explanation of and discussion around the new University Strategy and implementation planning process, whilst an inspirational keynote address from gold medallist and honorary graduate, David Moorcroft, considered some of the parallels between sporting and academic excellence. Breakout sessions allowed for further briefing on the Strategy’s key goals, as well as discussion around smaller good ideas generated through the Warwick’s Future process, plus sessions on the exchange of best practice.

The feedback, as well as a review of each session, powerpoint presentations, where available, and photos of the graffiti wall, will be posted on the Warwick Network webpages shortly.

If you weren’t able to attend, you might want to watch the plenary sessions, including the Vice-Chancellor’s speech, online.

Although this year’s event has built on last year’s, there is always room for improvement. You can post your comments on the Network forum pages or submit your feedback online.

Once again, thank you for your enthusiasm and I hope that we can rely on your support in the year to come.
