Workshop Participants Needed

Lucy Cullingford will be working as the Warwick\RSC Fellow in Creativity and Performance at the CAPITAL Centre from January to April 2010 and is seeking people collaborators. Lucy's interest is in exploring a kinaesthetic understanding of the Renaissance through Shakespeare's plays and the social dances of the period. The project aims to interrogate the Renaissance worldview through a series of practical workshops.

Angels in America Practical Workshop for non-actors in history and related subject

Interested in playing around with themes of history and sexual health? Join the CAPITAL Centre for a interdisciplinary workshop specifically designed for non-actors. Explore the thrills and aggravation of Tony Kushner's brilliant political epic 'Angels in America' on the AIDS crisis in the 80s, recently made into a film starring Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Emma Thompson and Patrick Wilson.

This is a interdisciplinary postgraduate colloquium on Bad Behaviour, run by students the University of Kent's Centre for Medieval and Early Modern Studies and sponsored by the AHRC as part of its Beyond Text scheme. In addition to papers given by an international group of speakers on various kinds of antisocial behaviour including the pulling of beards and the misuse of firearms, there are tours, performances, and an exhibition of images from Kent's Cartoon Archive.

Workshop 1: University of Warwick, Arden House, October 14 2009

Mimesis is the ability/susceptibility we all have to copy each other's behaviour. This workshop will combine speakers, discussion and an 'open space' session and comes from a new network based at Warwick. The ESRC, BBSRC and MRC have jointly funded a team to grow an interdisciplinary, international network focused on mimetic factors in individual health behaviour as part of the innovative "Understanding Individual Behaviour" programme.

The Centre for Metropolitan History, Institute of Historical Research, will be hosting a one day workshop on women in the later medieval economy, and related social issues, on 17 September 2009. Proposals (of no more than 150 words) for papers of twenty to thirty minutes are invited from graduate students and academics alike, to be received no later than Sunday 21 June 2009

In celebration of the centenary of The Round Table and the 60th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth, Round Table Commonwealth Awards for Young Scholars will be awarded to six students from Commonwealth countries studying at a UK University in the academic year 2008-9. Each student will undertake a 3 week study visit to a Commonwealth country in the summer of 2009 as part of his or her existing academic research projects (either undergraduate or postgraduate). On their return, scholars will write up their research into an article for publication in The Round Table and disseminate their findings through presentations to other university students.
