In the last few weeks, we have completed and tested  several significant upgrades to the Exchange Email system by ensuring that all servers have a passive ( backup) server. As well as providing increased resilience, this also means the majority of software updates can now be applied with no loss of service, as we can temporarily failover to the passive servers.

 

During these updates  there is of course a  slightly increased risk to the service, as there is no backup available should an error occur. Therefore  when these updates are being applied we will always flag that the system is “at risk

This ongoing maintenance and development work to the Exchange System is not expected to cause any disruption to the service. However, as with any work of this nature, there is a small potential risk of an unexpected issue.

The Staff Exchange Email service will be unavailable this Sunday between 09:00 and 17:00 while essential updates are applied to the system. 

As a result of customer feedback, we are changing the way we archive mail in Exchange email accounts. 

Over the coming weeks, we will be installing upgrades to the various servers which support the staff email system (Exchange/Outlook). While most of these updates will not impact service,  downtime will be required to complete the updates.

Updates installed during the week of 24-28 November will not impact service, although  you may notice a brief Disconnect/Connect message. After 17:00, you may need to reconnect or re-enter your password.

 

To apply appropriate ‘patches’ and updates, the Exchange Email system will be ‘at risk’ between 07:00 and 09:00 on Thursday 13 November.

This service will be unavailable while the server is moved to a new location. 

Although the Outlook Client is the  recommend means of managing your Exchange email, Outlook Web Access (OWA) provides an easy means of managing your email when off-campus or when the Outlook Client isn’t available. OWA can be accessed from the link on the insite Homepage http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/insite/ or directly at  https://mywebmail.warwick.ac.uk

This date has now been confirmed for completion of essential maintenance and development work.  During this time it will not be possible to access your Exchange email account.

 

 

In order to apply essential upgrades, the Exchange Email Archive system will be unavailable between 08:00 and 09:00 on Thursday 16 October.
