After 12 years at Warwick and an academic career spanning more than 40 years, Professor Lawrence Young retired at the end of July 2024.

Lawrence has made an outstanding contribution to the field of virus-associated cancers and has held many senior academic posts including Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Warwick. During the Covid pandemic, Lawrence has provided expert advice to various governmental and national bodies as well contributing to local, national and international media.

We are pleased that Lawrence will continue to support Warwick Medical School and the University as an Emeritus Professor.

Lawrence said: "Warwick has provided me with many opportunities and I have very much enjoyed contributing to various developments such as the design and commissioning of the Oculus Building and to supporting the Warwick Cancer Research Centre and the Health Global Research Priority. I am pleased to have contributed to Warwick's unique profile in interdisciplinary health research and teaching and look forward to continuing to support these activities."
