Anthony Avery: Senior Production Manager
Name: Anthony Avery
Job title: Senior Production Manager
Department: Event Production (Warwick Conferences)
Can you tell us a little bit about your role?
My role is very varied, working for internal departments and external clients in venues across campus and beyond. The Event Production department is involved in the design and look of events as well as managing production elements on the day. It also regularly designs and implements bespoke event technology and of course undertakes many different types of video production; working with clients post shoot or event to help get their communications out to target audiences.
And what’s your involvement at Arrivals Weekend?
On this event I am principally involved in videoing and streaming live from venues in the Arts Centre to screens around campus.
What’s the best bit about being involved in the weekend?
I like the Monday morning Vice-Chancellor address to the new undergraduates which always seems to have an air of anticipation from the thousand-plus students arriving into the Butterworth Hall. I think there’s a moment of realisation that this is not a school environment and that there is real scale at Warwick and a huge amount of people of a similar age to meet and interact with.
Are there any challenges?
There are always challenges with live work, but the real challenge from a production standpoint is turning the Butterworth around to get it ready for the Question Time event on the Monday evening.
Not many people know this about Arrivals Weekend but...
... we had over 3,000 new students watching the VC's Monday morning address in venues and screens around campus!
