Esther Meininger: Student Support Manager
Name: Esther Meininger
Job title: Student Support Manager
Department: Wellbeing Support Services (formerly Student Support)
Can you tell us a little bit about your role?
I see a lot of students and advise them about the support available at Warwick - some are just struggling a little and want to nip things in the bud, or need information about their options; others are in a more difficult situation and can benefit from being signposted to our wide range of services.
And what’s your involvement at Arrivals Weekend?
I shall be holding a talk for parents, and generally being on hand to promote the support available and in case there are queries or concerns.
What’s the best bit about being involved in the weekend?
It’s a well-oiled machine! And it’s great to have contact with many colleagues, who I often only speak to on the phone or communicate with via email through the year.
Are there any challenges?
We have such a good support team at Warwick, all working together to make the arrivals experience a positive one for new students, so although there are always challenges (and you never know what form they are going to take) it’s great to know that everyone always pulls together to make things happen.
Not many people know this about Arrivals Weekend, but …
... Wellbeing Support Services colleagues are on hand throughout the weekend, promoting our services (even though most students are too excited to take note of the support on offer!).
