Hello. My name's Cathy. I'm the Chancellor of the University of Warwick. The role of the Chancellor is an honorary position. It's been around a long time, and it's mainly there to support the University in any way that it can, but also to be a big part of graduations.
When I'm here in Warwick, what I try and do is three things. First of all, the student graduations are the heart of the week that I'm here in the summer and in January for the two sets of graduations.
But I'm also here to greet our visitors, the dignitaries that come from all over the area, and of course, the family and friends, especially of those students who are receiving awards. But more in general with everyone. And then third, to host any of the dinners or events that the University is putting on.
Warwick University is an exceptional university. It's one of the best in the country. It's one of the best internationally. And anyone who's part of the family of Warwick, whether they are staff or students in whatever capacity they work, are part of something much bigger than simply the part of it that they're connected to, whether that's a faculty, whether that's an administrative office, wherever they are.
And that's something that is really important to understand, because very often in life we are focused on the job that we're doing and not so much on how that fits into the broader picture. So I hope that everyone here is proud to be part of this great family, which includes not just all the faculty and staff, but all those who've come through the doors of Warwick and to recognise it because it's such an international community.
They are very fortunate to be working with some of the great minds that have come together to create what is Warwick.
