In Memoriam: Duncan Hine

WMG is saddened to announce the death of Dr Duncan Hine, Principal Fellow in our Cyber Security team, who passed away on 30 July. Duncan had been ill for a while, and passed away peacefully at home with his family.

Prior to joining WMG in 2011, Duncan had held a series of senior appointments in the areas of data and cyber security across a range of organisations, including the UK’s Passport and Identity Service and QinetiQ PLC. Earlier in his career he had served as the Group CTO for the Post Office. He played a major role in establishing WMG’s early presence in Cyber Security, and ensuring the further development of our capability in the area following a change in the Professorial leadership of the group in 2013/14. Duncan continued to play an active role in our education and research activities in recent years.

If you knew Duncan and are affected by this news, there is a range of University support available to all staff and students. The Wellbeing Support Services website https://warwick.ac.uk/services/wss gives more details about support available, or you can contact the team on 024 76 575570, ext. 75570.
