Eatwise - our new approach to eating on campus

Introducing Eatwise: our new approach to food on campus, creating dishes that inspire our community, using imagination and fresh, seasonal, healthy ingredients.

It’s increasingly recognised that the way that the world produces, processes, and consumes food is creating a global food and health crisis which demands a response. This has coincided with a growing demand for higher quality food offerings: more seasonal, more nutritious, fresher.

Eatwise will provide a better solution to these challenges by reorientating our offer to one which is based on fresh, nutritious affordable food which not only nourishes the body but also feeds the mind.

By giving all customers a better option, we will feed the innovative spirit that sits at the heart of our University.

Each Food & Beverage outlet on campus will continue to have its own name, specific concept and identity, but with the principles and values of Eatwise running through them. This approach will allow us to differentiate our outlets for different audience segments. We’re starting with the launch of the Eatwise Test Kitchen in February (more on this next month), with an Eatwise Cookery School coming in the future.

The ambition is significant, and we want Eatwise to become a proposition which can be franchised or licensed to other educational establishments and beyond.

Matt Drew, Head of Food and Beverage said:

“Our mission at the University is to provide ‘mindful food for thriving minds’. Many of our customers are changing what they eat and drink, looking for options that are good for body, mind and planet.

“To offer people what they want, we’ll need to adapt and we’ve invested in a number of new roles in our management team, that focus on specific elements of running our business.

“With the development of the team, we will be known as Warwick Food Group, rather than Warwick Retail; a food-focused team operating in both grocery and food & beverage environments.”
