Professor Koen Lamberts appointed Vice-Chancellor of York
The University of York has announced today, Monday 18 March 2013, that it has appointed Warwick’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, Professor Koen Lamberts, as its new Vice-Chancellor. He will take up his new post at York on 1 January 2014.
Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Thrift said:
Koen will take to York a wealth of leadership experience gained at Warwick. He has served as Head of Warwick’s Department of Psychology, as Chair of our Faculty of Science and then as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, and later Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Resourcing before being appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost.
His appointment confirms once more just how highly sought after Warwick Senior staff are by other universities. Three former Warwick staff have taken up Vice-Chancellorships in the last five years and overall at least a dozen former senior Warwick researchers and administrators are now in leadership roles in a range of other universities."
Professor Lamberts said:
Warwick and York have both forged global reputations for their teaching and research in less than 50 years. I have been privileged to spend 15 of those years at Warwick with many talented colleagues and friends and that is a fabulous foundation for my new role at York."
