Craig Whisker
Centre for Lifelong Learning
Craig has made a lasting impact through his innovative use of psychodrama, a therapy technique that brings depth and insight to both teaching and professional practice. His expertise has enriched the learning experiences of students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, while also inspiring colleagues through collaborative workshops and events.
Beyond the classroom, Craig has taken his commitment to wellbeing and resilience to a global stage. In August 2024 and April 2025, he led not-for-profit psychodrama workshops in Kyiv, Ukraine, under the theme 'Building Resilience and Freedom'. These sessions, offered to Ukrainian counsellors and psychotherapists affected by war, reflect Craig’s deep humanitarian values and his dedication to supporting communities in crisis.

Closer to home, Craig has also facilitated events for staff and students, including summer team-building workshops that have strengthened team bonds and enhanced our working culture. His generosity and collegial spirit have left a lasting impression on all who work with him.
As programme lead for the Accreditation Completion Programme, Craig has played a key role in shaping postgraduate professional training. His teaching, particularly his focus on the Ukrainian context, brings diverse voices into academic discourse and supports the University’s broader decolonising agenda.
Craig’s work exemplifies compassion, innovation, and academic excellence. His colleagues are proud to work alongside him and celebrate the difference he continues to make, locally and globally.

When Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor, presented Craig with his award, he said:
"Our winners of the Wonders awards are nominated for all sorts of extraordinary reasons - for going above and beyond in their daily life in all parts of the University. And the person we're about to go give a Wonder award to certainly fits into that category of extraordinary - Craig Whisker.
Craig has been at the University for almost two years, he works in psychodrama, he's really engaged with students and staff here on campus. But he's also reached out and engaged with a group of Ukrainians who are coming to terms with the psychological damage of the war that is going on. And his ability to translate academic knowledge into clinical practice, his willingness to put himself in places to do that is really quite amazing."
