University House Learning Grid facilities and opening hours

Work is currently underway to enable the main campus Library to operate as a 24/7 service, as discussed at Council in July. This will give overnight access to the Library’s print books and journals, IT facilities and other resources, as well as providing an increased number and range of study spaces throughout the night right at the heart of campus. There will be a staff presence offering support for Library users throughout the extended opening hours.

In the context of these developments, and in discussion with the Students’ Union, a number of associated changes will be made to Library services in University House. There will be extended study space created next to the University House café, and opening hours for the University House Learning Grid will be amended and close at 22:00 each day. Changes to the main Library opening hours and to University House Learning Grid facilities will take effect later in the Autumn term.

Alongside this, the relocation of the Executive Office (for VC, Provost, PVCs, Registrar, senior management and support staff) is nearing completion and staff will be relocating to the first floor of University House on Thursday 22 September 2016. Work will begin in October to re-develop vacated space on the second floor of University House in order to bring together the Strategic Programme Delivery, Simplify, Collaborate, Deliver and California project teams. This space will also provide hot desking facilities and four new staff meeting rooms.

There are a number of other changes taking place in University House over the next few months: find out more. More information on 24/7 Library implementation and associated changes to the University House Learning Grid will be shared in the coming weeks.
